Lance Philip Morse, a proud second generation Coloradoan, passed away on August 23, 2023. After graduating from Fort Collins High School, Lance enlisted in the United States Army. He served with distinction and was honorably discharged in the early 1960s. Lance became an apprentice painter/wallpaper hanger in Fort Collins. In the late 1960s, Lance started Morse Decorating which was known as the finest painting and wallpapering company in Northern Colorado. Lance moved to Denver in the early 1980s, working for a commercial painting company on high rise buildings in the downtown Denver area. In the mid-1990s, Lance moved back to Fort Collins and returned as a partner with his son Neal at Morse Decorating. Lance retired from painting in the mid-2000s.
Lance was born on Mulberry Street in Fort Collins and lived in Colorado his entire life. He married his first wife, Marjory Kuhre, in 1961. They raised two boys together. In 1982, he met Lois Ann Anderson and married her in 1989. They loved being with each other at home and going on many trips over the years, visiting friends and family. He was an avid outdoorsman, going on many hunting trips with his sons, grandkids and great grandkids. In Colorado they hunted for deer and elk, in Alaska for caribou and black bear, and in Kansas for pheasant. Lance liked tending his garden, which he and Lois maintained meticulously. Lance loved working on the lathe turning bowls and Christmas decorations and building items for the house. These traits he handed down to his family members.
Lance is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Morse; two sons from his first marriage, Neal (Jodi) Morse, Mark (Tina) Morse; two stepdaughters, Elaine Anderson (Ron Job), and Marlene (Glen) Thompson; six grandchildren (Misty, Nicole, Nolan, Rowan, Lauren, Kyle); and six great grandchildren (Christian, Hunter, Porter, Kody, Alexis, Taylor). Lance is preceded in death by his parents, Phil & Neva Morse, and two brothers, Leroy and Tom.
Lance is now seated at the right hand of God and heaven is now a better place with Lance joining the kingdom of angels.
You are the best father two sons could have, Dad. We love you now and forever. – Neal and Mark
