He was born on December 09, 1927, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He graduated from Xavier High School, attended Manhattan College and graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering. John served in the Navy on aircraft carriers and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
John married Joan Grady on January 30, 1954, in Jersey City and immediately moved to Rochester, New York to begin a career with Eastman Kodak. The family relocated to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1970 and John retired from Kodak in 1984. He was very proud to have received his pension for more years than he had worked for Kodak.
John was a long-time parishioner of St. John XXIII Catholic Church of Fort Collins. He enjoyed traveling, photography, sports, Colorado weather, and was an avid runner. His humor, insight and exceptional kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Edward Keane, a daughter, Joanne Mitchell, and his siblings Edward Keane, Virginia Keane, Margery Delaney, and Edith Hogan. He is survived by his children John Keane Jr., Marjorie Phillips, Robert Keane, and Nancy Sutton, grandchildren Nora Keane, Erin Keane, Abby Keane, Christopher Mitchell, Jaime Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Christopher Farinelli, Jake Keane, Kyle Diehl and Tyler Sutton and four great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Huntington Hills Clubhouse in Fort Collins on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 from 1pm - 5pm. Interment with military honors will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:30pm on October 21, 2024.
