was born on January 20th, 1933 to Lawrence and Catherine Kibler in Dallas, TX. He was the youngest
of three brothers, Lawrence and Robert Kibler.
Jim graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1951. He then attended Colorado A&M (CSU) until he
was drafted by the Army in 1953. Jim served as a Corporal in Japan as a cartographer until he was
Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1955. Jim returned to CSU in 1956 and graduated with a
degree in Education in 1960.
During his time at CSU, Jim met Elva Faye Hickman, while they were students. They were married on
June 15, 1958. Following his graduation, the couple moved to Yuma, CO where Jim taught at Yuma
JHS.
Upon completing his Master's in 1963 the family moved to Henderson, NV where he taught and
coached various sports at Basic HS.
In 1968, the family moved back to Fort Collins where he taught at Blevins Jr High then transferred to
Boltz Jr. High in 1973. He taught P.E., outdoor education, and helped develop a hunter's education
class. Jim taught and coached until his retirement in 1995.
During his retirement, Jim and Elva traveled the U.S. and made a special trip to Europe. The majority
of his time he enjoyed taking care of his home while enjoying his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Elva, four children, James (Penny James) Kibler, Dennis Kibler, Tammy
(Steve) Ryan, and Roger (Nicole) Kibler. Brother, Robert (Carolyn) Kibler. Grandchildren: Megan
Kibler, Stephanie Ryan, Gabe Ryan, Josh (Kate) Pomeroy, Cory (Jamie) Pomeroy, and Nicole Pomeroy,
Ramsay (Trevor) Moshier, Tristan Riddell, and Maggie Riddell. Great Grandchildren: Maggie, Ellie,
Danny, Kaylee and Ryan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Fort Collins on Friday April 8th at 11 am, with option to join the livestream at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84317233673.
