Donald Gayle Knott was born February 20, 1931, in Lingle, Wyoming to Donald Banard Knott and Opal May Knott. He departed on October 1, 2024, with his family. Donald Gayle married his bride, Diane Julene Conkle, on August 23, 1953, and with this union, two daughters, Julie, Kathie and son; David.
Gayle graduated from Lingle High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree from CSU.
He taught Vocational Agriculture for 14 years in Wyoming high schools. He was employed for 25 with the CSU extension service for Larimer County office.
Gayle enjoyed RV travel, woodworking, and family get-togethers. He was active in the community, belonging to Sertoma, Elks, and Presbyterian Church. As well as the fraternities of Mason, Eastern Star, Sigma Nu, and Alpha Zeta.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Opal Knott and his brother Dwight.
Survivors include his wife Diane; two daughters, Julie (Lance) Wheat, Kathie (Danny) Sexton; son, Kevin (Connie); and eight grandchildren, Ryan and Wayne Wheat, JD (Lacey) Sexton, Kurt (Shellie) Sexton, Lisa (John) Meade, Kalvin (Danielle) Knott, Aidan and Pete Knott. Gayle also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Ian, Laramie, Lexi, Millie, Logan, Jolee, Hallie, Ellie, Colbie, and Holly Jo.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
