David “Dave” Clucas sadly passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 in Fort Collins, Colorado due to complications from Covid. He leaves behind his immediate family, sisters Patty and Jane, and his brother Bill. He is preceded in death by his sister Cathy, who passed in 2014. In addition, his extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends will greatly miss him.
Dave was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on August 3, 1952 and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Growing up in Wisconsin, a neighbor nicknamed him “Smiley.” It fit him, and he grew up with an infectious laugh, sharing his quick-witted talent for telling really funny stories, many from personal experience. That talent made him an excellent salesman for the major companies he worked for all his life.
One of the best parts of anyone’s character we can hope to have and give to others is what Dave had all his life, a big heart. Rest in love, and say hello to Ernie Banks for us.
As per the family’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
