The life of Catherine (Kate) Crouch Kegans ended much too soon on February 18. Born June 11, 1963, she was only 58 years old. Kate was a woman of honor, dignity and witty humor, and was an instant friend to all who knew her. She was the daughter of John and Carolyn Crouch and the sister to Jay (wife Debbie). Kate also shared a special love with her stepmother, Sharon. Kate grew up in Rochester NY and attended Denison University, where she made life-long friends with whom she is still close today. In 1985, Kate moved to Boulder, Colorado after graduating from college. She came to Fort Collins in 1987 and raised her three children here – Benjamin (wife Grace), Andrew and Sarah Harrison. In 2011, Kate married the love of her life, Chad Kegans. Along with Chad and his children, Holly and Cole, they shared a blended family of love and friendship.
Kate was a phenomenal athlete. She loved tennis and played in a 4.0 league. After meeting Chad, she picked up the game of golf and in just a few short years, brought her handicap down to a 9 and had 3 hole-in-ones! Chad and Kate called Ptarmigan their home and made many friends and numerous memories with members at the club.
Kate was preceded in death by her father, John.
A celebration of life is planned on March 6, 2p at Ptarmigan Country Club. Kate will forever be missed and never forgotten by those who knew and loved her. She was an incredible woman who is finally free from the agonizing pain she lived with every day. Donations in Kate’s name can be made to IASP (the International Association for the Study of Pain) or to Operation Smile. True to Kate’s compassionate nature, her heartstrings were tugged every time she saw the commercial for Operation Smile.
