Alexis was born on July 1, 1975. At the age of 13, her parents gifted her a horse that she named Cloud 9. Caring for and competing with Cloud 9 taught Alexis patience and responsibility, and helped her gain confidence in herself. During high school, she participated in drama and enjoyed singing in plays. Her love for music continued into college and Alexis had the opportunity to sing with the New England Conservatory and the University of Urbino in Italy. She attended Mesa State College and graduated with a degree in music performance. Her instrument was her voice.
It was during her college years that she developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that changed the course of her life. Her faith kept her going during difficult times.
After college, Alexis did multiple tours with Jeramiah People, a traveling theatrical vocal group with Christian principles, and Continental Singers, a music ministry. These opportunities took her all over the US and even to an international stage. Through these experiences, she built many lifelong friendships.
Alexis was a beautiful soul that shined bright. Her smile would bring sunshine on the cloudiest of days. She had a gift for keeping in touch with people over time. That was her hobby – caring about others. She loved to sing at church. More than anything else in the world, Alexis loved her family. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother, who had amazing patience with her boys. She was also a loving daughter and dear friend to many. The world was a better place for having Alexis in it. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Alexis leaves behind her loving husband, David Swanson, sons, Harrison, Baker, and Andrew, mom and dad, Scott and Nancy Baker, and Granny Creeps as well as many more from her large family and numerous friends around the world.
