William Errol Veno, Jr. left this life to be with his Lord on December 22, 2022. Errol was born on February 25, 1946 to William Errol Veno and Addie Hill Veno in Bainbridge, Georgia. Interim moves followed before the family settled in Albany, Georgia, where Errol graduated from high school. Then on to Auburn University, ( War Eagle ! ) arriving in style in a burgundy 1964 GTO. Errol pledged Theta Chi where he made many life long friends.
Graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Errol joined IBM, where his first assignment was the NASA facility in Huntsville. An IBM transfer followed shortly to Vermont, where his daughter, Traci Kirk Veno was born. The cold weather provided the chance to learn to ski, but the next stop in Nashville was a better fit. “I’ve been moved” was the IBM reputation in the 70’s and moves to Atlanta and then Florida followed. A move to Tampa lasted longer, and his son, Evan Errol Veno, was born there. While in Florida , Errol earned his MBA from The University of South Florida, where he also had the distinction of being a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Societies. Next came moves to California and finally to Frisco, Texas. During these IBM years, Errol found time to perfect his high school track skills into serious running , cycling, and triathlon accomplishments. He ran a number of marathons, including Atlanta, New York, Boston and Chicago. Ski trips to Park City became an annual event. After leaving the corporate world of IBM he spent time in investment and property management.
Errol was very devoted to the start-up of St. Philips Episcopal Church in Frisco. Over the following years, he contributed in financial and administrative roles. He enjoyed mission opportunities, especially in Peru. While serving his Lord and St. Philips, he met Deborah Broussard, a fellow parishioner. Their friendship turned into a true love story and they were married in September of 2016. They spent many happy times over the next years sharing a love of football ( especially college football and the Cowboys ) , traveling around the US and Italy , and continuing their commitment to St. Philips. Together they fought Errol’s battle against Multiple Myeloma cancer. Errol was an example of Christ in word and deed. He truly fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.
Errol was preceded in death by his parents, William and Addie Veno. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, of Frisco, his daughter , Traci, of Santa Rosa , Florida, his son, Evan, of Hutto, Texas, Tad Broussard, (Britney) of Lake Highlands, Texas, Stephen Broussard ( Katie ) of Richardson, Texas, his sister Ginny Veno Battle, (Charles- brother in law and also best friend ), of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, his nephew,
