Stacy Tsakonas Simmons, age 56, of Little Elm, TX, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2022. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated teacher, and a writer of contemporary Christian fiction fueled by faith and caffeine.
Stacy was born on November 19, 1965, in Tampa, Florida, to Dr. Anastasio Tsakonas and Betty Earl (Evans) Tsakonas. She was preceded in death by her father in 1992.
Stacy enjoyed over 35 years of marital bliss with her true love, Michael Simmons, whom she married in Temple Terrace, Florida on June 27, 1987. Her two daughters, Jordan and Madison, were her pride and joy and she cherished every moment she spent raising and loving them.
In addition to her husband and daughters, she is survived by her mother and her sister, Beth (Frank) Collins of Alexandra, Virginia, as well as four nephews: Jordan Blanton of Jacksonville, Florida; Andrew and Colin Ring of Alexandria, Virginia; and Jaden Maynor of Florence, South Carolina.
Stacy received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood/elementary education from the University of South Florida in 1992. She derived great satisfaction from the many years she worked as a special education inclusion paraprofessional, most recently at Lawler Middle School in Frisco, Texas.
Stacy was much loved and cherished by everyone who knew her. She had a true servant’s heart and always put the needs of others above her own. Stacy enjoyed reading, praising Jesus with her beautiful singing voice, travel (especially cruises), and anything and everything Disney. She adored animals and lovingly referred to her menagerie of pets as “Noah’s Ark.”
In recent years, Stacy fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. Inspired by her students’ love of reading, she began writing in the evenings and on weekends six years ago. She also attended local American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW-DFW) meetings and conferences and credited them with strengthening her “writing craft toolbox.”
Stacy later served as ACFW-DFW president for three years, mentoring and encouraging many aspiring authors. When her debut novel was accepted for publication, she was thrilled but made sure everyone knew that it was only through Christ that she achieved this accomplishment.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Stonebriar Funeral Home, located at 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, Texas 75033. A Celebration of Life service will take place immediately thereafter at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. A private family burial will be held at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas.
Stacy’s loving heart touched many and she will be deeply missed and not forgotten. As we mourn her passing, we must remember that, as she said, “No matter what is thrown at you, Jesus is with you and guides you all the way through it.”
Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas has charge of arrangements.
