Robert “Bob” John Howard, 73, of Prosper, Texas passed from this life on to his eternal home March 27, 2019. He was born July 15, 1945 to William Edward Howard and Elizabeth Ann Cody. Bob was the middle child having one older brother and a younger sister.
He grew up in Batavia, New York, graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1963 and from College of the Holy Cross in 1967. In 1972 he married Dorothy and they lived most of their married lives in Arlington, Texas. They had two children and four grandchildren. Bob worked in Chemical Sales and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob read the newspaper cover to cover daily so if you needed to know anything, important or not, you could just ask Bob. You could always find Bob close to a TV. He especially liked the news, comedies and all sports. One of his favorite TV shows was The Simpsons. He loved his Red Sox, Bruins, and Texas Aggies. He was a faithful fan of the Cleveland Browns, even though they haven’t won in years. 2019 was going to be their year according to Bob. His favorite places to be were in ‘his chair’ or near his grandkids.
He was very smart, witty and funny, with a dry sense of humor. He was also a loyal and considerate person. His favorite expressions were “I’m tellin ya…” and “If you can believe that!”
Bob is preceded in death by his father William Edward Howard, his mother Elizabeth Ann Cody, and his brother William Edward Howard Jr. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Dorothy Howard of Arlington, TX; his daughter Amy Walker and her husband Doug of Prosper, TX; his son Rob Howard and his wife Rachel of Austin, TX; his grandchildren Landry Walker, Colton Walker, Murphy Howard and Louisa Howard; his sister Ann Miller and her husband Bill of Dallas, TX; his sister-in-law Linda Howard of Bordentown, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was loved while he was with us here on earth, and will be continued to be loved through time and all eternity.
The Cross
He chose a tree, and cut it down.
Then went to work without a sound.
He cut two planks; one large, one small
As if he knew the man were tall.
By the sweat of his brow he finished the task,
Then suddenly he was struck aghast.
For then he seemed to understand,
He had made a cross for the Son of Man.
