Robert “Bobby” N. Aguirre was born on March 5, 1941 to Robert and Jenny Aguirre in Porterville, California. Bobby was the 4th of 8 children. He had one brother and six sisters. – David, Esther, Jennie, Naomi, Gloria, Irene, and Natalie. We was raised in a strict home as his father was an Apolistic minster but his warm and loving mother was the balance and taught him to value family. Bobby was mischievous as a child and often played pranks on his sisters. In his teen years, he had a wide circle of friends that consisted of neighborhood kids and his many…many…. cousins. He graduated from Porterville High School in 1960 and attended Porterville College and was the football team until an injury ended his football and college career.
September 8, 1962 Bobby married his high school sweet heart Cecelia Orosco. They made a life in Porterville, California. Bobby and Cecelia had three children, Edina Waggoner, Monica Natera, and Desmond Aguirre. Bobby and Cecelia devoted the coming years to teaching their children how to work hard, have integrity, and have a love for God and family. Bobby’s heart broke in 1998 when Monica passed away unexpectedly; he was never quite the same again.
Bobby had a career as a Pest Control Advisor in the orange industry under the mentorship of Dick Stark. He worked for Stark Packing Corporation for 25+ years. Then he was a partner with his son-in-law, Don Waggoner, in Ag-Wag Agricultural Sprayers.
Robert went by many names; to his high school friends he was Bobo Black (if anyone knows, the family would like to know); to Cecelia he was Robair or Roberto; to his sisters he was Bobby, and to his many nieces and nephews, Uncle Bobby. The Aguirre home was the place to be when he was raising his family. There always seemed to be a family gathering for some reason or another – sometimes there would be tacos, rice and beans other times barbeque meat but always laughs. good times and memories. No matter the reason for the gathering, he always had music playing. Music had meaning to him – he could hear a song and instantly be moved or the song would trigger a memory. He loved going to concerts and exposing his children to a wide range of music. He loved Ray Charles and Vincente Hernandez; some of his other favorites were Tina Turner, O.C. Smith, the Eagles, Staple Singers, Linda Ronstadt, and Elvis.
Bobby loved his children. He expected much from his children but only because he wanted better for them. He taught Edina, Monica, and Desmond the value of hard work, to be tenacious, to be forgiving. The most important was to the value of family, taught to him by his mother. He had three granddaughters, Brianna Natera, Jenclaire Waggoner and Mikaela Rubalcava that made his heart happy. Bobby and Cecelia moved from their small town to Frisco, Texas in March of 2015 to be closer to their children and that is truly a blessing.
He created great, often funny memories. Like making his children, nieces, and nephews cry when playing Monopoly; driving Desmond and his entire baseball team around the city of Lindsay, toilet papering until midnight; dancing every dance at weddings; making my cousins eat tomatoes when they clearly were repulsed; and pranks on his adult sisters. Bobby was at every event for his children – never missed a game, recital, or important moment. It is these memories that sustained him and we want you to cherish them in his memory. He created a reputation that any wife, son or daughter would be proud of! He touched a lot of people's hearts...he will never know how many people loved him.
Bobby is survived by his wife Cecelia; daughter Edina Waggoner and her husband Don of Frisco, Texas; son Desmond Aguirre and his wife Monique of Frisco Texas; granddaughters Brianna Natera of Porterville California and Jenclaire Waggoner and Mikaela Rubalcava of Frisco, Texas. In addition he is survived by his sisters Esther Olvera, Bakersfield, California; Jennie Rizo, Bakersfield, California; Naomi Aguirre, Porterville, California; Irene Mendoza, Porterville, California; Gloria Rodriguez, Porterville, California; Natalie Fajardo, Cliffside Part, NJ; and over 25 nieces and nephews.
“A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume…And the day you die is better than the day you were born” Ecclesiastes 7:1. Bobby created a reputation that any wife, son, or daughter would be proud of! He touched a lot of people's hearts . . . he will never know how many people loved him.
