Raymond Francis Wawrzeniak

Ray Wawrzeniak, age 71, devoted husband, cherished father and stepfather, loving grandfather and esteemed retired Air Force pilot passed away on February 25, 2024 in Dallas, Texas after a year long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, Lynn, his daughter, Lisa and his stepson, Geoff His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him.

A man of unwavering integrity and boundless kindness, Ray touched the lives of many by volunteering at the Northern Illinois Food-bank for over 15 years and Northwestern Hospital while living in Chicagoland. After moving to Texas in 2018 he continued to spread his generous spirit by joining the Knights of Columbus at St Martin de Porres in Frisco.Unfortunately, this past summer, his activity was cut short by his illness.

Throughout his distinguished military career from 1974-1996, his courage and dedication earned him many medals, citations and badges. Following his retirement as a Lt Colonel from the Air Force, he continued to inspire those around him with his zest for life and commitment to excellence.

An avid sports enthusiast, Ray found joy and happiness on the golf course, where he shared countless memorable moments with friends and family. His love for sports extended far beyond the greens, as he cheered passionately for his favorite hometown Pittsburgh teams.

Ray possessed a deep appreciation for exploring the wonders of the world and embarked on many adventures during his lifetime in the military and beyond. Whether flying cargo planes across the ocean, sightseeing in Asia, cruising the Caribbean or simply savoring unique attractions in the US, he approached each experience with a sense of wonder and excitement. His passion for life and adventure was evident in every endeavor he pursued.

Above all, Ray cherished his role as a loving father, grandfather and devoted husband. He leaves behind a legacy of love, lots of laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those he held dear.

He is survived by his wife Lynn Radford; daughter Lisa Fuhrmann and husband Barry; stepson Geoff Radford and grandson Mason; stepson Kris Radford and wife Micha granddaughters Gracelyn, Charlee, and Presley, brothers and sisters: Patrick and wife Sharon; Anne Marie and husband Bill; Joe and wife Kathy; Mary Lou and husband Tony plus countless other nieces, nephews and friends.

Though he may be gone from our sight, Ray will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and an example of the passion of life we should all strive for.

A celebration of life visitation for Raymond will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033. A funeral mass will occur Monday, March 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 3990 W University Dr, Prosper, TX 75078.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Raymond Francis Wawrzeniak's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
