David Alan Kropp passed from this life to his eternal home on November 1, 2018 in Lewisville, Texas with his family by his bedside. Dave was born on April 5, 1958, to his parents, Harry Kropp, Sr. and Lois Noss Kropp in Berea, Ohio. He was the youngest of five children being blessed with three sisters and a brother.
Dave grew up in the Cleveland area until he moved into the Dallas, Texas area in 1991. He graduated from Parma Senior High School in 1976. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Kent State University in 1980. He went on to get his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1985. Dave worked for Rug Doctor until 2017 and held the position of VP Information Technology. In July 2018, he began working in the IT Department for The City of Plano.
Family and friends who knew Dave would always tell others that Dave was very kind and had a wonderfully loving heart. He was a great father, a step-father, a grandpa (Bapa) and wonderful husband. Dave loved his family unconditionally. He had a great sense of humor and looked forward to his weekly golf game surrounded by his golfing buddies.
When asked where his favorite place was, Dave had many places but they always had to include his family. Dave was a big fan of Oktoberfest and Margaritaville Festivities. His best memories of Oktoberfest included having his kids and grandkids by his side while attending Oktoberfest with him. This past June, the family spent a week at Lake Hamilton in Arkansas and had a fun-filled week of golfing, boating and fishing. Dave was a huge fan of the History Channel. He loved music – especially Classic Rock and his favorite band was Pink Floyd.
Dave was passionate about golf. He looked forward to the weekly golf game with his buddies at Los Rios Country Club even if it meant he would lose the bet that day. He especially loved playing golf with his spouse and his kids. Vacation trips always included a round of golf. Whether through work or vacation, he played golf at some very neat places including Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, The Homestead, Seven Canyons in Sedona, Palm Desert, TPC Sawgrass, and of course, Pebble Beach. One of his most memorable events was the day he made his “Hole in One” on November 6, 2011, on hole number 15 at Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, CA.
Dave and Patty were married on December 9, 2000 on Kapalua Bay Beach in Lahaina Maui. They loved to dance together. Dave and Patty learned to dance together – swing dance and country western dance were their favorites! If a special song came on the radio Dave would stop the car wherever they were…. even in a Walmart parking lot – and they danced!
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Harry Sr. and Lois Kropp; his brother-in-laws, Saul and Rich; his sister-in-law, Hildur; his nephews, Michael and Robert; and his granddaughter Hazel. His legacy and memory will live on through his wife, Patty; his son, Justin (Erin); his daughter, Amy; his step-son Jason (Erin); and his step-daughter, Christine (Jim); and his beautiful grandchildren, Haleigh, Sophie, Charlotte, Nora and Hudson (who will arrive in early January), and by over 50 nieces and nephews and their children.
Dave was loved while he was with us here on earth, will continue to be loved through time and all eternity, and will be sorely missed by all those who had the great fortune of crossing his path.
