Born on February 15, 1935, in Bakersfield, California, Wilma's journey through life was marked by her remarkable ability to teach herself after completing only the 9th grade in high school.
Wilma was the proud owner of Simpsons Bakery on Bullard and West for over 43 years, a testament to her dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Her passion for baking and cake decorating was well-known, as well as her creativity. Wilma once created an entire miniature western town from balsam wood, complete with a bank and stagecoach, showcasing her attention to detail.
Wilma was a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to her two children. Her legacy is carried on by her devoted son Michael Simpson and his children Adam Simpson and Tisa Burls. She is preceded in death by her son Steven Simpson, and her sisters, Edith Amos, Lorraine Redman, and Bonnie Baker.
Michael, who learned everything from being a good person to the art of baking and decorating cakes from his mother, will truly miss her.
Her life and teachings have left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
