Vito Cassano, born July 29, 1933 to Mary and Vito Cassano in Fresno, CA on the same ranch he passed away on November 12th. Vito always equated everything in life on cars; therefore, her passed away from high mileage and engine failure. He was the youngest of three siblings.
In honor of Vito's life, remember his love for his ranch; always farming a garden with abundance of Italian peppers, eggplants and tomatoes. He always told his family and friends, pick and eat fresh fruit from the trees, letting the juices run down your chin;
eat Italian peppers and vine ripe tomatoes with garlic and olive oil. He enjoyed sharing his crops with anyone who stopped by and delivered them to many. Always keep a toothpick with you, it has many uses.
His favorite memories were teaching his grandsons how to take care of their cars, shooting a gun to hunt game, and a special
lure bait to catch fish. He worried about everyone, making sure their needs were met. He never let his children out-of-sight, always giving advice.
He loved to play pinochle and finally made Marie learn the game too. His favorite sport was baseball and watched every Yankee game. He loved attending the FSU Bulldogs football and basketball games with his son, wife and friends, Nick and Angela.
He was proud to be in the military. He served with the U.S. Army from April, 1953 to April, 1955. He was a tractor-scraper-operator in Germany. He was one of the oldest members of the Verdi Club, attending every Wednesday night meetings. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of CCTC and Sequoia T-Bird clubs. He farmed the home 20 acres and was an excellent mechanic. He had an ear for diagnosing any car trouble. He owned a Shell Station with his son and Automotive Repair shop until his retirement.
Vito is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Vito Cassano; brother, Tony and wife, Lila; sister, Nettie and husband, Frank Valla.
Vito is survived by his wife, Marie of 66 years; meeting her while driving the Fulton Street drag in his beautiful 54 Oldsmobile.
His son, Bret and wife, Charlotte; daughter, Lori Ricci and husband, Craig, their wonderful sons, Dominic, Andrew and Matthew Ricci. He loved his sister's son, David Valla, and wife, Tina; their sons, Michael and wife, Sydney; Nicholas and his wife, Catylin;
his brother's children, Diane Weigandt and her husband, Brent; Jeff Cassano and his husband, Stephen Helmuth.
