The first of two sons of Greek immigrant parents, he was raised in the Greek Orthodox faith and supported various Greek-American organizations throughout his life.
He met Sophia Zografos when in church choir together. In 1952, they were married, then shortly after, he reported for duty in the U.S. Army in Maryland.
After his honorable discharge, they returned to San Francisco where their son Daniel was born. Having then moved to Fresno, daughters Becca and Mia rounded out the family of five.
Life-long roots were now being established in Fresno and in the local Greek community. His career as a draftsman and estimator for local firms, with the longest tenure being with Howell Air Conditioning, honed his organizational skills.
The locally famous Greek Food Festival, the philanthropic Order of AHEPA, and the St. George Greek Church Sunday school program were just a few of the organizations that benefitted from his loyal commitment.
He was preceded in death by Sophia. Bill is survived by their children Danny (Amalia), Becca (Bill) Farray, and Mia (George) Papangellin, his brother Stavros (Barbara), 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
