Stella Rose Jones

Stella Rose Jones, age 75, of Fresno, California passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 7, 2024 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Stella was born on April 24, 1949, to John B. and Marcy C. Maxwell in Sanger, CA. She is a graduate of class of 1968 from Roosevelt High School.

In 1971, she met and married the love of her life, Tommy Lee Jones. Together, they had four daughters. She worked for Pacific Bell/ AT&T for 30 years and retired in 1998. Stella was a devout Catholic, a breast cancer survivor. She was sassy & spicy til the end, just the way we loved her to be. She loved fiercely. She was extremely loyal. She loved to spend time laughing with her family & adored her sisters & brothers. She was a dancing queen. She enjoyed collecting antiques, quilting & caring for her fur babies. She had the spirit of a loving caregiver. She cared for many family members in the remaining years of their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Marcy Maxwell; and her beloved husband of 47 years, Tommy Lee Jones. Stella is survived by her daughters; Tammy & Todd Suntrapak; Jennifer & Fred Martinez; Melanie & Frank Contreras; Samantha & Andy Johnson; her grandchildren; Carson, Dom & Will Suntrapak; Freddy, Drew & Kobe Martinez; Ethan, Evan, Scarlett, Mila & Tomi Leigh Contreras; James, Delaney & Archer Johnson and Great Grand Daughter Nebiat Martinez ; her siblings Susan Flores, John & Priscilla Maxwell, Joseph & Sharon Maxwell, Phillis McNatt, Mary & Andy Alvarez, Frank & Stephanie Maxwell and Manuel & Connie Maxwell, Sister in Law, Susan Jones, her many beloved nieces/nephews, cousins, Cabrera aunts & Uncle & her BFF of 58 years Rachel (& Abby) Zapata.

Visitation - Wednesday, December 18th from 4-6 p.m. (Recitation of Holy Rosary at 6 p.m.) at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home located at 836 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno, CA 93720.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 5770 N. Maroa Avenue, Fresno, CA on Thursday, December 19, followed by a graveside services at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery at 264 N. Blythe Avenue, Fresno, CA.

Following the burial, we will offer a memorial lunch reception at Buena Vista Event Center, 14860 Highway 41, Madera, CA 93636. We’d love to see you there.
