Slavenka Howard passed away peacefully in Fresno California April 16, 2013, with her son at her side. She was born in Aberdeen, Washington on December 23, 1921, and came to Kerman with her parents. She graduated from Kerman High School and was married to Victor Howard on August 8, 1944. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an agricultural inspector for over 30 years.
With unsurpassed dignity, Slavenka embraced the fullness of each day. Slavenka was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed playing bridge, gambling with her friends, traveling, and entertaining. She will be remembered by the many people that loved her for her giving spirit, delicious cooking and hospitality.
She was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, the Garden Club, the Raisin Wives, and was a life member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 581.
Slavenka was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter; and sister Anka.
She is survived by her sister Mary; brother-in-law Don; her son Keith; son-in-law Randy; grandson Victor and his wife Lorelei; grandson Justin; great-grandchildren, Elara and Thane; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Stephens and Bean Chapel, April 25, 2013, from 2:00 - 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kerman Friday April 26, 2013, at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
Remembrances may be made to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice.
