Sharon Moffatt Mahaffy passed away after a valiant fight with cancer on May 27, 2012 at age 62. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 2 at 11 am, with reception to immediately follow. Sharon was the oldest of four children born to Keith and Bev Moffatt. She was an Air Force Brat and spent her childhood moving around the United States and Europe. She learned to make friends quickly and that served her well through life. Sharon earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of San Francisco. Sharon retired from teaching in Fresno Unified School District in 2011. She and her husband Don enjoyed traveling. Together they saw many parts of the world. Sharon's friends and family were an important part of her life. She was seldom home on a weekend, instead spending time with those she loved. The happiest years of her life were those she spent with Don.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Keith Moffatt, MD, sister Andrea Moffatt Dority and granddaughter Mallory McDougal. She is survived by her husband, Don Mahaffy, mother, Beverly Moffatt, sister Pam Ritcheson and her husband Alan, brother Rob Moffatt and his wife Susan, brother-in-law Jim Dority and his wife Meredith, her daughter Jennifer McDougal and her husband John, son Jeff Harmonson and girlfriend Heidi Olsen, stepson Kevin Mahaffy and his wife Katy, stepson David Mahaffy and his wife Michelle and stepdaughter Lori Rhoten and her husband Daniel. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
