Saturnino Rivera Perez, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2022.
The son of Hilario and Marcela Perez- Saturnino was born on November 29, 1929 in Santa Ana, Philippines. He grew up in a family of 12 children in Metro Manila, Philippines.
At the age of 28, Saturnino beat out a multitude of other candidates by joining the US Navy while living in the Philippines after a fulfilling career as a law enforcement officer in Manila, Philippines. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Petty Officer First Class. As part of this service, he served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Service Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and multiple Good Conduct awards for his years of service. After his service in the Navy, he continued to serve his country as a US Merchant Marine.
Saturnino is survived by his wife Melinda Perez. Their Children Eliza (Armando) Fabionar, Alfred Perez, Dr. Maria (Jose) De la Rosa, DDS, Allen (Akemi) Perez, Jocelyn (Jose Antonio) Dauden and seven grandchildren- Robert "Bobby" Fabionar, Christie "Maki" Ledezma, Yvonne "Nica" Kennedy, Toni Dauden, Diego De la Rosa and Dario De la Rosa.
His loved ones will always remember his adventurous spirit, sharp wit, artistic nature and benevolent soul.
The viewing and visitation honoring the life of Saturnino will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Followed by a Rosary Service from 7:00pm to 8:00 pm at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.
A Funeral Service will occur Friday, November 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Helens Catholic Church, 4870 E. Belmont, Fresno, CA 93727.
A Graveside Service will occur Friday, November 18, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at ST. Peters Cemetery, 264 N. Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
