Santiago, aka "Jimmy", was born in Rennes, France on April 23, 1946. His mother, a French citizen, his father an American World War II soldier, were wed in France in 1945. Jimmy also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War from 1964 to 1966.
He married Armida Herroz in 1971 and most recently celebrated 47 years of marriage.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a member of Fresno Worship Center and Post 509 and retired from the City of Fresno in 2011.
He was well-liked and had compassion for others. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. As an outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing, driving long distances and having adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Armida Meza; his three children, Javier S. Meza, Arturo D. Meza, and Rebecca E. Sanchez; and six grandchildren, Marina Sanchez, Marcello Meza, Alyssa Sanchez, Victor Meza, Jasmine Sanchez, and Isaiah Meza all of Fresno. He is also survived by his Brother Miguel Meza of Vancouver, WA.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Christian Temple Church, 535 N. Cedar Ave., Fresno, CA 93702 on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
