I'm writing on behalf of Joe  (Chema) & Carrie Valenzuela. I want to express my deepest condolences to the family of my cousin Rudy. I am  Joe ( Chema) Valenzuela 's daughter. My Tia Lillia was my dad's sister. I have many great memories with the family. Thank you, Rudy, for visiting my Dad while he was battling cancer!  We will never forget your thoughtfulness. Dad would look forward to your visits,  along with Angie & Lydia. Prayers of comfort to your family in the days ahead.

What a light this man was in my life.  My Uncle Rudy treated me like a daughter.  He was kind, loving, and very funny.  I am so blessed to have had such a wonderful man as my uncle. I love you. You will be missed. ❤️

Rudy was a Parks Assistant and Manager with the City of Fresno for many years.  His dedicated service earned him a stellar reputation guided by hard work, dedication and a desire to provide the best park experiences for the public.  I certainly enjoyed working with him over the years and learned from him compassion and practicality.

He also had a sense of humor, although often clothed in an austere demeanor.  There are two sayings that I keep and have passed forward that he used to say:

"This dirt is harder than Hanna's Heart"
"If you want fair, just go to the corner of Ventura and Chance the first weekend of October...and you'll find fair (because the Fresno Fair is held at that intersection).  There are many more Rowdyism's that I cannot recall but these two have stuck with me throughout the years and I share them with others in the field of Parks & Recreation.

My dearest Joanne, Debbie and Pam,

Heaven has gained a beautiful spirit. He has reunited with all our loved ones that went home before him.  I knew him as my brother and friend.  He always had a kind word for my family.  Wanted to know how Ray was getting along and if I was taking care of myself.  He would always tell me that you all were praying for me.  I will forever miss my chats with him but will continue to carry him in my heart.  I know that he no longer hurts but he has left an empty chair at the family table. God's promise is that we will meet again. I am looking forward to that very special day.  May God wrap His amazing arms around all of you today and in the days to come.  We love you all.
