Rosa Olivares Garcia

Rosa was the wife of 64 years to Jesus Garcia and mother of 13 children, grandmother of 27 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. So many to love and yet, there were no favorites; she loved them all equally.

During her lifetime, she had three passions: sewing, shopping and cooking. She loved sewing for us as well as for others. She also made sure we looked our best even with our hand me downs. The love she had for us was shown in every piece of clothing she created.

Rosa’s kitchen was always open to those who visited. There wasn’t a day that she wasn’t in the kitchen cooking, baking or planning the next meal. She was very well known for her delicious tamales which she shared with everyone at Christmas.

Rosa is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Garcia; her parents German and Celia Olivares; sisters Fidelfa, Berta, and brother, Leonardo, daughter Gracie, granddaughter Ana Alcaraz, grandson Ric Garcia and daughter Maria Garcia Sipin.

She is survived by her daughters Yolanda McLaughlin, Rosa Hinkly, Grace Swarm, Patricia Garcia, Laura Garcia, and Elizabeth Garcia, and her sons Juan Garcia, Joe Garcia, Tony Garcia, Jose Manuel Garcia and Ruben Garcia. She is also survived by her sister Guadalupe Olivares and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special recognition to Bristol Hospice, Ryan Vue (RN) and their team for their care and compassion during her final days.

A visitation for Rosa will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, followed by a Chapel Funeral Service at 10:00 AM.
