Primetbia Linda Moreno

Our Mother, Primetbia Linda Moreno, was a god-loving, hardworking, loving mother and giving person. She was beautiful and remarkable; she was our hero after battling stage 4 cancer. She won that battle, and God blessed her and her family, granting us more time to make more memories. This allowed Mom to have time for one of her greatest pastimes, cooking excellent meals for anyone who wanted to eat. On February 6th, 2022, our Mother passed with the love of our family surrounding her.

Mom was born to Julia and Joe Moreno. Our grandmother had 15 children, and our Mother is the 13th child. She often talked about the early beginnings of her childhood. Her Mom was originally from Texas, and as a young woman, she later started her family in California. Grandma began working in the agriculture field to provide for her children, sometimes with her children working alongside her (unknowingly teaching Mom the value of hard work).

Out of necessity, grandma began to create her own recipes that our Mom learned to make for her kids and grandchildren; these recipes would still feed us generations later. To this day, our Mom is known for her delicious cooking. But, of course, some of you know that!

Growing up with her siblings, she would share her stories of how our Tia Rita would come and save the day for her at school when other girls would pick on her. Not a fighter, we later found out one of her best qualities was being a nurturer, with the innocence that shined through her up to her last day. That’s why she was so good to her family. Another pastime of siblings would be dancing and hanging out together. She would often tell us about the local television station that hosted dance competitions and showed them on tv; our mom and her sisters would enter these dance competitions.

As she started her own family, thinking about the future with her children, she went back to school to become licensed in the medical field, where she spent about 30 years dedicated to her work. 25 of her working years were for Fresno County Mental Health, and she later would retire with the “Golden Handshake” for outstanding years of service. While in the medical field, she met many great people who, to this day, remain some of her closest friends. She would talk about the potlucks at Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) and the after-work get-togethers with her coworkers. When APU closed, she was transferred to outpatient Mental Health, but she often spoke about APU with a smile on her face.

Mom’s most outstanding achievement was being a mother to 5 children, then later becoming a grandmother and great grandmother. This kept her in mother mode for years, making sure to keep up with the times for the different generations, and at one point, she shared her love for Disneyland by taking grandchild after grandchild to her ‘Happiest Place on Earth”.

Spending time with her grandchildren and taking them for rides in her car

She enjoyed going out to dine with the family and watching movies

Although she is not physically here anymore, she has instilled hard work, compassion, forgiveness, empowerment, empathy, prayer, the importance of appreciating life’s moments, and the value of family in us. We would like to thank you for that, Mom.
