The family would like to thank the doctors who cared for Oscar, Dr. Avula, Dr. Ambati, Dr. Kinter, and Dr. Scort. A special thank you to Fr. Eric who kept Oscar smiling and the Guadalupana Society that kept Oscar hopping with the pots and pans for the tamale sales.
Oscar will best be remembered for his famous Avocado Money Tree and gained the title "El Señor del los Ahuacates" He will be remembered from the farming communities of Watsonville to the foothills of Clovis. He took pride in forming a team alongside his sister Rachel and brother-in-law, Tony working for Leonard Bros. Packing House during grape seasons.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Oscar is survived by two brothers, Rudy and Fred Alvarez; four sisters, Rachel, Lydia, Elena and Virginia.
Visitation was held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, November 4, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John's Cathedral on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Interment followed at St. Peter's Cemetery.
