Meghan Marie Donaghy - beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend - passed away peacefully in the arms of her mother and father, with her brother, two sisters, and brother-in-law by her side, on Friday, November 4, 2022, in Fresno, California.
Meghan was born in Fresno, CA on March 23, 1979. She attended Forkner Elementary School, St. Anthony’s School, and San Joaquin Memorial High School. She was a high-achieving student and participated in many extra-curricular activities, including tennis, soccer, softball, and basketball.
She graduated from Santa Clara University, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. While in college, she completed a term studying abroad in Assisi, Italy. Upon graduation, she entered the family business, doing market research and trend analysis. Meghan was adept at keeping a pulse on the latest trends and events in the beverage industry. She played an important advisory role in all Donaghy family businesses.
Her love of adventure was evident in her many trips abroad, traveling to six continents. Meghan visited the most exotic as well as culturally rich places on earth. However, her favorite destination was always where her family and friends were.
Meghan’s favorite pastime was attending sporting events, large-scale music events, and concerts. She was always planning and looking forward to the next big game, show, or tour. She also enjoyed ski trips and tennis matches with her family. Meghan spent many special summers in Huntington Lake with her family, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved to fish, water ski, hike, and make each day an adventure.
Meghan played an active role in the busy lives of her nephew and nieces. She regularly attended baseball games, soccer games, dance recitals, and out-of-town competitions. She was a loving, devoted aunt, and her enthusiasm and vocal support were evident to everyone. No matter the circumstances, the kids were always right, despite the protests of their parents. She was the “fun” aunt, and always their advocate. Above all, Meghan was also a deeply spiritual person and a devout member of the Catholic Church. She led the family in prayer and grace at every meal. Meghan was a wonderful Godmother who served as a kind and positive spiritual mentor to all.
Meghan was sweet and compassionate. Many times, she would drop the shield that many of us carry. She was vulnerable and still protective, passive yet passionate. At times when she would be withdrawn or quiet, she would surprise you with the kindest thought. She loved all of us unconditionally.
She is survived by her parents, Edward and Janis Donaghy; her brother Ryan and his wife, Elena Donaghy; her sister Tara, and her husband, Jeffrey Flores; her sister Audra, and her husband, Mike Williams; her nephew, Frederick Flores, and nieces, Faye Flores, Simona Donaghy, Frances Flores, Anya Donaghy and Anaise Williams, all of Fresno, California.
A private family funeral High Mass was held on November 9, 2022, at the Nativity Chapel, in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. The celebrants were the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph Vincent Brennan D.D. and Monsignor Patrick McCormick.
