Mary Frances Bigelow

Mary Frances (Lykins) Bigelow December 29, 1933-July 25, 2021, O’Neals, California – Our beloved mother, Mary Bigelow of O’Neals, California, passed away on Sunday- July 25, 2021, after a long fought, valiant battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Fresno, California to Ova and Eunice Lykins. She was a graduate of Clovis High School. She married Robert F. Bigelow in 1953 and moved to his ranch in O’Neals where she lived until her death. She and Robert raised three children, Frank Bigelow, John Bigelow and Mary (Bigelow) Costales.

Mary was extremely talented and creative. During the years she raised her children she volunteered in the local 4-H Club, taught sewing lessons and piano lessons. She always made all of her kids costumes for whatever events they needed them for. Mary loved Nascar. She enjoyed watching the races on tv and even went to the Daytona 500. Mary loved animals and became an avid breeder of purebred dogs.

Together with her son John they showed dogs at several dog shows. Mary was an extremely gifted artist and quilter. She painted several different mediums. She taught painting lessons out of her home and then opened a studio in Fresno for a short time, The Hen House Gallery. She loved square dancing. She made all of her own skirts and most of the skirts for her friends. She loved to garden, as well. She always had a beautiful yard and bountiful vegetable garden. Mary was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bigelow and her son John Bigelow. She is survived by son Frank Bigelow of O’ Neals, California, daughter Mary (Beth) Costales of Coarsegold, California, daughter-in-law Barbara Bigelow, Granddaughter Julie Tipton, Grandson Frank Bigelow, Jr. wife Sahara, Grandson Matt Bigelow wife Stacey, Granddaughter Kasey Bigelow, Granddaughter Jamie Ebright husband Mike, and Grandson James R. Costales wife Jen. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, August 9, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Stephens and Bean Funeral Chapel, 202 North Teilman, Fresno, CA 93706.

A graveside service will occur Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Clovis Cemetery District, 305 N Villa Ave, Clovis, CA 93612.
