Born on January 29, 1934, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, Mary Alice was the beloved daughter of Frederick James Jr. “FJ” and Edna Mae Crabb. She was raised in a loving home “on the railroad” and in Fresno, California, where she attended Saint John’s Catholic School, San Joaquin Memorial High School, and later Fresno City College.
On September 1, 1952, Mary Alice married Anthony Ochinero, the love of her life, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fresno, California. Their 41 years of marriage was blessed and marked by love and devotion as they raised four children: Jane, Jill, Debra, and Mark.
A dedicated housewife and mother in her early years raising her children, Mary Alice later pursued a distinguished and successful career as a Real Estate Broker for 20 years. Her life passion was a testament to her Christian values and her unwavering commitment to her family. She cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to be present for her loved ones.
Mary Alice had a zest for life as she delighted in traveling both domestically and internationally with family and friends, exploring destinations from the beaches of Cayucos to various spots in Europe. Her passions also included gardening and caring for her many plants and flowers and also her creative interior decorating. Known for her positive outlook and selflessness, she always put others before herself and had a radiant smile.
Mary Alice is survived by her children, Jane Krauter and her husband Kevin; Jill Ochinero; Debra Schroeder and her husband Thomas; and Mark Ochinero and his significant other Alicia; 11 grandchildren and spouses, and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents FJ and Edna Mae Crabb, her husband Anthony Ochinero, her sister Carolyn Peck, her brother Paul Crabb, her great-granddaughter McKenna Graves, and her second husband of 22 years, Bill Barbis.
Mary Alice will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a reflection of love, generosity, and faith, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
The family invites all who knew Mary Alice to join in celebrating her life on Wednesday, August 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 355 E Champlain Drive, Fresno, CA 93730.
A Graveside Service will occur Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
