To Mark Gomez .. Missing him an truely was a good person. .I will never forget how much he did for me at all times .. Mark was a wonderful an loving kind man .. I will always keep you in my heart I know that you are in a good place with the Lord  .. I just know u where my friend an never stop thinking bout you Mark ... You just don't know how much I been missing 

My Memories with Mark Gomez

To say that Mark has been a vital part of my life would be an understatement. I could talk, or tell you about how Mark would pick me up at home, or take me to doctor appointment's, or to other meeting's but that is a something that could be told by so many other's who's lives Mark has touched and I'm sure it has.

The memory that I would like to share is when Mark and your mother Mary went to Washington DC with Debbie and I. Debbie and I had been to Washington  DC  before but this was a very special trip. Mark had talked about wanting to go to the Wall in DC since I first met him and having been there thought it would be a good trip.

Together we were able to go to the Marine Base in Quantico Virginia where they had just opened the Marine Corps Museum. The museum was very well done with aircraft of every type used, a very nice shop with all types of memorabilia, and a nice snack bar. When we got to the war section of the museum we were shocked at just how realistic it was. The moment Debbie and I stepped into the Vietnam section and heard the sounds of choppers landing, orders being barked over the radio to advance, 50 and 60 caliber machine gun fire, and the sound of automatic and semi-automatic fire of the M16 and Ak7 rifles. It sounded so real that I was immediately transported back to Ga Noi Island with Lima 3/27. Debbie pulled me out of there right away and we looked for Mark to hopefully prevent him from going in. Overall it was a very memorable and enjoyable museum. On the way back to DC we stopped at George Washington home Mt. Vernon and we rented a  wheel chairs for me and Mark and Debbie took turns pushing me down the dirt and gravel path of the estate. It was a great day.

Our trip to the Vietnam Wall was very successful for Mark also. A group of young students and their teacher came up to thank us for our service and a brief visit. Mark really enjoyed talking to them and you could tell it meant a lot to him.  



The last time I saw Mark was  at an Anniversary party in February where I know he didn’t feel good but made it a point to attend and that was appreciated by us all.  That day I briefly talked to him told him how blessed he was to have family to help him. He said that he knows his baby girl will always be there for him. I thought about how much comfort that must have brought him to know that he will be cared for and loved during this difficult time. Great example of family love 💕

The Dix family are deeply saddened by Mark's passing.Our sincere condolences to the family.He is in Heaven with Mary and Chevy.Always helping others. He will be truly missed.God Bless and Semper Fi.


So many of my cherished childhood memories include the Gomez ohana. I am thankful for Mark’s love, friendship and the time we spent together.

I always reminisce about the many camping and fishing trips our families took over many of my childhood years. That I still think back about when I frequently go fishing. My dad Ernie Ureno and Mark taught me a lot that I still reflect on even today.

Condolences to his family. I met Mark at Dave's place in the foothills and enjoyed his company many times . We Worked , Talked and Laughed together, I considered him a friend of mine . He will be remembered and missed .

We didn't know Mark very long I've known him for about 10 years 15 years PTSD with him and our condolences go to his family and friends will see him on the other side

Mark a good friend of mine I will miss him alot we had good times togher .  He  enjoyed running his tractor    at my cabin in the foothills. Every time we went up he couldn't wait to get the tractor started.
