Maria Pineda was born on December 23, 1935, to Jesus Guadalupe and Maria Guadalupe. She married Jesus Sanchez Meza, gave birth to six children, had sixteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren before she passed away on January 28, 2022. Maria was known in different ways by each member of the family. Her children respected her, one generation of her grandchildren loved her while the other generation was taught to respect and care for her, and lastly, her great-grandchildren were introduced to her and heard about the stories of her life along with the rest of the family.
During her life, Maria Pineda had a couple of different jobs: she worked in the garment district, was an agricultural worker, and devoted her time to taking care of disabled kids at a Children’s Mental Health Hospital. However, she was mostly known for being a kind-hearted and generous woman to those in need. No matter who it was, she would never turn away someone asking for help, because she believed that by providing for those less fortunate than herself, one day, that same goodwill would be repaid in her time of need. Not only that, people who called her their friend knew Maria to be a very loyal individual who’d always be there for you no matter what.
And even though Maria wasn’t perfect, her loss is felt by everyone. Nothing will ever be the same. For better or for worse: life moves on, the pain will one day ease, and we shall continue to carry on her legacy in her honor.
“We begin to remember not just that you died but that you lived.
And that your life gave us memories too influential to forget.”
