Lina, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, August 24, 2014, just shy of her 98th birthday. She was born in Walnut Grove, CA on September 4, 1916, the 4th of 10 children born to parents who emigrated from China to California shortly after the great San Francisco earthquake and then settled in the Sacramento Delta region. She had a wonderful life growing up on a farm in the Delta with her parents and 9 siblings. She met Charlie Chow at grade school, married in 1947 and moved to Fresno in 1956. They had five children.
Lina was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed and spent many hours cooking for her family and traveling, and later in life, nothing brought her greater pleasure than going out with her family for a delicious meal at one of her many favorite restaurants.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charlie, son Steve, three brothers Tim, Edwin and Joe Jang, and three sisters Wynne Sun, Ruby Bow and Lily Chu.
Lina is survived by her daughter Sandra and husband, Ron Chun of Madera, son Greg and wife Cyndi of San Jose, daughter-in-law Carmen Chow of Clovis, son Gerald and wife Julia of Fresno, daughter Beverly of Sacramento, and grandchildren Jonathan Chow, Stefanie and husband Jack Vertrees, Tracey Chow, Bryan Chow, Austin Chow and Curtis Chow.
