Lee Roy attended school in Cutler and East Orios also Washington Union. At 16 he signed up in the military. When he found out he was going over seas he confessed to being under 18. He was sent home.
Lee Roy loved trucks. He worked in the business for years until he started his own business in 1970.
Weldon trucking was one of the largest low bed operations in Central Valley. He retired in 2004. He was involved in many joint businesses such as F&W- Fine and Weldon water tanks. Known to many as Fats and Waddles.
Many friends and partners through out his life. He loved to fish. He looked forward to his yearly fishing trip in Alaska. If any one had gone to his office, they would have seen his Marlin he caught on a fishing trip in Mexico.
Lee Roy is preceded in death by his parents George & Ruth Weldon. Brother Robert (Sarge). His son Allen Benzler and grandson Billy Sullivan (B.J.)
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Evelyn Weldon. Five children Karen Robinson of Merced. Pam Blackwell and husband Richard of Mexico MO. Cindy Simpson and husband Mike of San Jose CA and Becky Martin and husband Bill of Fresno. Ten grandchildren, Nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. And many nieces and nephews. He will truly be missed by many.
