Beloved Wife of Husband Art, Mother & Grandmother Kathleen Ryan Duran passed away on August 16, 2018. She has left behind a legacy of love bequeathed to her family and to all with whom she came in contact. She is one of 4 children born to Leo & Helen Ryan on August 18, 1940 and is survived by her sisters Colleen Ryan Beel and Teresa Ryan Surratt and her deceased brother Thomas Ryan.
Her marriage to Arthur Duran on May 19, 1962 led to 56 years of marital bliss and the birth of 5 children: Christopher Duran, Peter Duran, Mary Newman, Julie Fletcher & Jennifer Duran. They together with their spouses Jaqueline, Teresa, Barry, Keith and Mark and Grandchildren Paul, Joseph, Jack & Kiera have been especially close to Kathy. She and these families along with her sisters, their families and friends gathered together over the years on numerous occasions for love and appreciation for one another. She treasured these moments close to her heart.
Kathy was an RN in the State of California for over 50 years and ministered to numerous patients in six different fields of nursing, always with a special love and compassion for those under her care. She went out of her way to give personal attention and assistance to each person and their needs.
She and her husband Art served in various ministries in Catholic churches in each area where they lived. They were especially privileged to serve as Eucharistic Ministers in Southern California and Fresno for over thirty years. As a Lady Knight, Kathy encouraged and supported Art in his in service and fellowship activities of the Knights of Columbus over the past two decades. They were married on May 19, 1962 at Immaculate Conception church in Colton, California. They have lived in Southern California and most recently in Fresno throughout their married lives, except for a four-year stint in the 1960’s while Art was assigned as a USAF Lieutenant at McGuire AFB, NJ. Kathy and Art’s 56 years of marriage together created a special bond of togetherness and love that endures.
Our gratitude goes to Bella Vista Memory Center in Fresno for their special care and support to Kathy in her ongoing battle with dementia.
Visitation will be held for at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday August 30, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
