She attended both grammar school and high school at St. John's here in Fresno. Upon graduating she attended nursing school in San Francisco until called to come to work for Dr. Jacobson in family practice. Once Dr. Jacobson was called into service during WWII, Dorothy became the bookkeeper for Turpins Furniture Store in the Tower District. She remained employed there until she and her husband of 51 years, former Fresno Fire Captain Robert V. Hill, had children. She at that time became a full time wife and mother.
Dorothy had many affiliations. She was the Vice President of the American Council of Venture Club 1940-1950's. She also was a member of the San Joaquin Danish Lodge until her death. She was a devoted Catholic and helped at her local church as a member of the Our Lady of Victory Alter Society and as a member of the Company of Mary Women's Guild. In her retirement years she was a greeter at the door of our local retirement center, The Nazareth House.
Dorothy was a loving and loyal wife, mother and friend. She would frequently give rides to those in need to get to the doctor or shopping for their weekly groceries. She had a generous heart.
Dorothy leaves behind sons, Robert A. Hill and Mark V. Hill; and daughter, Tracy A. O'Neil.
Mom, we love you so much for all the many years you have dedicated your time, heart and support to us. We know we have one more angel watching over us. Rest in peace, Mom.
