Doris Ceballos

Doris Ceballos was born in Fresno, CA in 1929 and was raised in Malaga, CA. Her parents, Cosme and Concepcion Martinez had eleven children and Doris was child number ten. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and parents and was the last living member of her immediate family until her death. Doris married Manuel Ceballos in 1961 and they had one child, their daughter, Cathleen. Doris’ husband Manuel, passed away in 2009. Doris is survived by her daughter Cathleen Lozano of Fresno, CA and her only grandchild Elise Lozano of Berkeley, CA.

Doris worked as a mother and homemaker and later in life she worked in the education field as an instructional aide for over 30 years. She worked primarily with students new to the English language. She could identify with her students very much as she herself did not know the English language when she began school. She had patience and compassion with her students and they in turn trusted her and respected her.

Doris was a devout Catholic and practiced her faith throughout her life. She had fond memories of her early years at Christ the King Church in Malaga, CA. where she attended mass, catechism, and was a member of Hijas de Maria. When Doris lived in Fresno with her husband and daughter, she was very involved at St. John’s Cathedral. She was a member of the choir, Lazarus ministry, and various committees and groups. Her faith was strong and her love in God is what carried her through some of her challenging times. She also was aware of how blessed she was and gave God thanks every day.

Doris was mild mannered, petite, and had a gentle sense of humor. She was thoughtful and loved her family dearly. Doris made many friends over her lifetime, and she was loved by all. She lived one day at a time and always kept her faith in God. She will always be remembered and greatly missed.

Serving as pallbearers are Mikeal Chico, Anthony Chico, Trino Martinez Jr., Noe Elizondo, Paul Basherian, and James Morris.

A visitation for Doris will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 5:00 pm and followed by a rosary

at 6:00 pm Lisle Funeral Home, 1605 L Street, Fresno CA 93721.

A Funeral Mass will occur Friday, September 1, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. John's Church, 2814 Mariposa St., Fresno, CA 93721. Doris will be laid to rest in St. Peter's Cemetery, 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno , CA 93706.
