Donald Lee Price, aged 82, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023,
surrounded by his daughters, JoNelle Teevens and Jennifer Erasmus.
Don was born on February 27, 1941, in Coalinga, CA, to Hubert and Laverne Price. The
family later moved to Fresno, where Don spent the majority of his life. After graduating
from Roosevelt High School, he joined the United States Coast Guard at Fort Point in the
Presidio of San Francisco, where he proudly served through May 1961. Upon returning
to Fresno, he married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn Kincheloe, and together they
shared 58 years of love and friendship until her passing in 2020.
Don's life took an extraordinary turn, when he embarked on a distinctive career path.
Following a 16-year tenure with Pacific Bell Telephone Company, he transitioned into a
new chapter as a professional landscape artist. In 1977, he realized his dream by
opening his own gallery, Don Price Galleries. His mastery in creating realistic oil
landscape paintings captured the hearts of many, resonating not only within the San
Joaquin Valley but also across California, the broader United States, and Canada. Over
the years, Don earned numerous accolades for his outstanding work, and his paintings
continue to grace various government buildings and public spaces, as well as private
homes, leaving behind an enduring legacy.
Don Price will be fondly remembered not only for his artistic contributions, but also for
his unique and quirky personality that endeared him to all who knew him. His indelible
mark on the art world and the lives he touched will forever be cherished. May he rest in
eternal peace.
A celebration of life and tribute to his life’s work will be held at a future date.
A visitation for Donald will take place on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720
