David was a teacher and librarian for 44 years, 38 of those years were in Fresno Unified School District. After his retirement, he volunteered to teach special units at Howard Elementary School in Madera, CA.
He loved old movies and spending time at the coast. David loved history and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. Later in life, he enjoyed writing letters to family and friends and creating comic strips.
David served in the United States Marines in the early 1960's.
He was preceded in death by his sister Kathy; and step-son, Matthew Heintz.
He is survived by MaryAnn, his wife of 38 years; his children, Joseph Callahan, and Johanna Waldo and her husband Kirk; his step-daughter, Melissa Manriquez and he husband Daniel; his brothers, John and Paul; and six grandchildren, Jacob and Lauren Heintz, Brendon, Zachary and Luke Manriquez and Ryan Waldo.
A Private Service was held.
