As a young child, Cheryle's mother married Jess Smith. Jess was truly Cheryle's father in every way. This marriage also brought Cheryle her sister, Teri, who she loved dearly.Cheryle graduated from Fresno High School. After graduation she worked for the Fresno Police Department where she met her first husband, Rick Bode Sr. That marriage resulted in her two sons, Rick and Brad. She adored her sons and took great pride in their many sports and professional accomplishments.
In 1973, Cheryle went to work for the California Dept. of Social Services. She helped to shape the Fresno office of Disability Determination Services from its earliest days until her retirement as a Bureau Chief.
She had a flair for interior decorating, gardening, and gourmet cooking. Her friends can attest to her entertainment skills, and many a legendary party was held in her home.
Cheryle was diagnosed with cancer three times during her life. The family wishes to thank Dr. Li Liu and Dr. Christopher Perkins for their compassionate care and skilled medical treatment. Through their care, we received the gift of an additional year with Cheryle. Our thanks also goes to Hinds Hospice for their care and support.
