Carmen passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the age of 66. She was born in Fresno, April 17, 1947. Carmen retired from the Fresno County Assessor Office. Until her battle with cancer, she was an active member of St. Mary Queen of the Apostles Alter Society and the Guadalupano Society. She loved family gatherings and friends.
She is preceded in death by a son, David Alexander Costalez; brother, Ceferino Zurita; and her parents, Tomas and Victoria Zurita.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Tomas Hernandez of Fresno; son, Samuel Costalez and his wife Diana of Salinas; daughters, Elaine O'Donnell and her husband Matthew of Fresno, and Christine Madden and her husband Henry of Fresno; sons, David Hernandez and his wife Shawn of Clovis, Carlos Hernandez and his wife Erica of Grand Blanc, Michigan, and Daniel Hernandez and his wife Vu of San Jose; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Tommy, Fred, and Greg of Fresno; and sister, Alex Martinez of Fresno.
Visitation will be held st Stephens & Bean Chapel on Monday, March 17, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, 4636 W. Dakota in Fresno on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
