Ben Edward Farmer, beloved by his family, friends, and all who he encountered, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the age of 74. Born in Spiro, Oklahoma, he moved to the Central Valley as a child and was raised on a farm in Caruthers where he attended Caruthers schools.

He was a generous and thoughtful neighbor, trusted friend, devoted husband, and extraordinary father and grandfather. Ben was known for his warm demeanor, quick wit, Irish pride, love of hunting and college football, and storytelling prowess. He loved nothing more than to entertain his friends and family with his great sense of humor and perfectly-grilled steaks.
His family would like to thank the St. Agnes Cancer Center, St. Agnes Hospital, Dr. Rao, and Dr. Gorty for their care and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Don and Keith Farmer; sister, Martha Gail Isaacs; and parents, Eula and Leonard Farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Carden Farmer, of 55 years; daughter, Linda Baird; son-in-law, Neil Baird; grandchildren, Erin, Caitlin, and Gavin Baird; sister, Helen Farmer; and brother-in-law, Lyle Isaacs.
