Apolonio V. Lopez was born on April 10, 1925 in Old Mesilla, New Mexico and passed away peacefully on July 19, 2012 at the age of 87. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for the city of Fresno Parks and Recreation Department for 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Manuela and is survived by his son, Paul Lopez and his wife Olivia; daughters, Rita Mosqueda, Susan Hernandez, Lenore Lopez-Burrola and her husband Conrad; and a brother, Manuel Lopez. Apolonio has 12 grand children and 10 great-grand children and was known to many as Paul, but to his family, he was lovingly known as Mi-daddy, grandpa, and papa.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
