Mary Ellen Fisher, 83, of Fremont, died early Sunday morning at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 25, 1929 in Millersville the daughter of Edward and Marian (Butler) Hughes. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She married Clayton Fisher on March 26, 1951, at St. Mary’s Church in Millersville. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soroptimist International, Marian Society, Fremont Federation of Women and Fremont Tree and Beautification Commission. She also was a former member of the St. Joseph Parish Counsel, the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce, and many other community/business organizations. Mary Ellen was co-founder and co-owner of Fisher’s Auto Service, established in 1960. One of her greatest accomplishments was raising eight children and participating in the lives of their families.
She is survived by her daughters; Kathleen Kissane of Frederick, MD, Linda of Austin, TX, Mary Pat of Columbus, Marcia Glick of Fremont, Julie Fisher-Price of Fremont, Peigi Hanson of Dublin, OH; sons, Kevin of Fremont, Ken of Trophy Club, TX; seventeen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Huston of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Edward Jr. & Eugene Hughes; granddaughter, Jennifer.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 2-7PM at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St, Fremont. A Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30AM Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Zacharias officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alzheimer’s Association, Stein Hospice, or Fremont Tree & Beautification Commission. The family would like to personally thank Stein Hospice for their care and compassion in taking care of Mary Ellen.
