Lincoln D. Wolfe, 96, of Fremont died Saturday morning at his residence. He was born August 13, 1915 in Fremont, OH, the son of Ernest and Ella (Nesbitt) Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe was a 1933 graduate of Fremont High School. On November 22, 1941 he married Helene Benadum. She preceded him in death in 1989.
A World War II Veteran, Lincoln joined the United States Army on November 16, 1942. he was stationed at Ft. Winfield Scott and sub-Posts Fort Baker, CA as a military policeman with Service Command #4907. He was honorably discharged May 10, 1945.
Lincoln was an active, life-long member of the Carpenters and Contractors Union #2239. In January February 2012 he received his 75 year member pin which was presented to him at the house by the current union President. He thoroughly enjoyed woodworking and made rocking chairs, dog houses, doll houses and toys which he made as gifts to his family. He also loved animals and would often feed stray cats in the neighborhood.
Surviving are his daughters: Christine Haslinger and Andrea Henry both of Fremont; grandchildren: Kelly (Todd) Wireman of Fremont, Shelly (Donald) Lehmann of Fremont, Kevin (Trisha) McGormley of Hurst, Texas, Toni y (Trisha) Boyer of Fremont, Denae (Rob) Helvey of St. Louis, MO; Jamie Flynn of Fremont, OH; 7 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; sisters: Dolores Tolhurst of Fremont, and Louise Kemner of Bowling Green, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, siblings: Marguerite Little, Gerald Wolfe, Dewey Wolfe, Herbert Wolfe, Lester Wolfe, Ernest Wolfe, James Wolfe, Franklin Wolfe
Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Funeral services will begin at 10:00A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with military graveside honors performed by the American Legion and V.F.W.
