He was born on January 27, 1926 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Esther (Schepple) Gettig.
Bill was married to his beloved wife Loene Kiser on June 2, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2011.
He attended Tri-State University and received his BS in Engineering there in 1949. He served as chairman of the board and was active with Trine University. Bill's leadership and financial support over the years helped Tri-State University survive during the early 1990's. He owned his own business in Angola for many years known as Gettig Engineering on Wohlert Street. He loved to fish, hunt, and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed college football and rooted for Penn State University. Bill was a veteran and served our Country in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Pennsylvania in the South Pacific. He also liked to play bridge, pinochle, pool, and chess.
Private Entombment will be at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.
