Mr. Winkler formerly lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mr. Winkler was born September 12, 1930, at home, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, the son of Henry A. and Frieda A. (Vegeler) Winkler, they preceded him in death.
Mr. Winkler married Dorothea “Dottie” M. Huemmrich on June 5, 1954 in PA., she preceded him in death May 7, 2007.
Mr. Winkler attended Zion Lutheran School, and graduated from South Side High School Ft. Wayne, Ind., he later graduated from Tri State University, Angola, Ind., with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from NIPSCO, ( Northern Indiana Public Service Company), as General Plant Superintendant . He was caretaker for the Clear Lake Lutheran Cemetery for many years. He was a United States Army Air Corps and Air Force Veteran. Mr. Winkler lived at Lake James for over 40 years. He was a member of Clear Lake Lutheran Church, Fremont, Ind., and he was an associate member of the Lake James Lutheran Chapel. He was a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge, Fremont American Legion Cassel Post # 257, Angola Elks Lodge, and the Angola V.F.W.
Survivors include, four daughters, Christina Winkler and and her friend Carl E. Miller of Fort Wayne, Gretchen Woods of Tacoma, Wash., Katharine (Bruce) Pickering of Carmel, Ind., and Sandra (Richard) Hensley of Chicago, IL., one son, Henry (Jill) Winkler of Lake James, Angola, Ind., four grandchildren, Ciara PIckering, Alyson Pickering, Elyse Pickering, and Henry Eugene (Tripp) Winkler, III.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea "Dottie" M. Winkler, parents, Henry A. and Frieda A. (Vegeler) Winkler, one granddaughter, Fischer Hensley, three sisters, Minna Marie Aston, Lillian Walker, and Dorothy Ahlersmeyer, two brothers, George R. Winkler and Pete Winkler.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Rev. Wayne Berkesch and Rev. Tim Miller officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Beams Funeral Home.
Family preferred memorials are to the Lake James Lutheran Chapel or to the Clear Lake Lutheran Church.
