Maria Santitos MORENO passed to eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov 15, 2016. She grew up in General Bravo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, married Eloy Daniel MORENO (now deceased) and has 3 sons : Daniel, Cesar, and Eric. As a family they lived in Mexico, moved to San Benito, Texas and finally settled in Santa Clara, California. Santitos worked at the old Agnew Hospital Facility (laundry / linen department) and then worked at Lockheed in Sunnyvale (first as a custodian and later doing inventory of electronic components). We remember fondly that she prepared tasty hand-made flour tortillas (we grabbed and hid the next tortilla under our plate while eating the current tortilla); she also cooked a pot of beans every week, and used a pressure cooker to make menudo faster. She cooked a delicious Thanksgiving turkey, made macaroni salad, and fixed capirotada; Guela Rosa and Tia Antonia often joined us the day after Thanksgiving. Santitos spoke English with an accent, learned and continued to drive a car into her 70’s, and loved playing slot machines in RENO or at INDIAN Casinos. She had very white skin, that her husband called her La Portuguesa.
The family drove to Texas every 5 years to see the Texas and Mexico relatives; Santitos was an alert copilot while her husband or sons drove (she never fell asleep). Santitos’s modest upbringing served as an example to save money and work together, so that you could have something to spend as an old-timer. We will miss Santitos because she was nice. Her grandchildren include : Melissa, Fatima, Laura, Cesar-Judd, Sabrina, and Steven-Eric. Her siblings from Mexico include : Joaquin, Graciela, Elena, Toña Castañeda, Mano Jose, Prieto, Guero, and Felipe-pipe. Thank you for everything, Santitos ……MOM.
Arrangements under the direction of Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, Fremont, CA.
