Dear Bettye,
Unfortunately, we never got to know Dale, but we know, respect and care deeply for his wonderful Mom!  Dale was obviously a special guy who brought much laughter to many and shared helpful heart-to-heart conversation with family and friends.   It sounds like he was an inspiration to everyone around him.

We admire and respect you so much for your great concern and dedication in being there for Dale each day.   It is the greatest thing any Mother could have done.   May knowing you made a difference in his care, bring you comfort.

Dearest Gibson and Vaswig Clans,
     As a young woman, you welcomed me into your family.  I felt loved and accepted.
     I will always remember the first time I met Dale.  He had a wicked sense of humor yet he was gentle in spirit and positive--definitely "a glass half full" kind of guy.
     This attitude served him well over the years.  He never complained or let circumstances get him down.  
     I will always remember 1989 when he and Steve were both so ill.  Our families pulled together to celebrate Thanksgiving.  We didn't know what tomorrow would bring but we spent the holiday living in the moment, laughing and thanking God for His blessings--power outage and charcoal flavored rolls aside.
     When Dale met Lisa, his world changed for the better.  He met his match and knew he had a partner for life.  He cherished sons Jeffery and Dylan.  All three were his joy and inspiration.
     My heart is heavy for you all.  Dale was such an amazing person.  Know that he is now free of pain, whole and complete, in the presence of Our Lord.  He and Don are together now, keeping each other company, laughing and telling jokes.
     I love you all.  You remain in my prayers always.

Dear Lisa and sons:  Dale was an inspiration and his outlook on life was one I truly admired.  I wish you and your family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved husband. Uncle Dale was a great man, husband, father, son, and uncle. He had such a good outlook on everything. He never had a bad attitude, and always was as cheerful as he could be. He always had a smile on his face, even when things weren't so great. He always tried his hardest to make the best out of any situation.

He cared so much about you, Dylan, and Jeffery. He was so proud of everything you did. He would try to do anything possible to make sure that you guys had whatever you needed. Whenever I talked to him on the phone, he was always interested in how and what I was doing and always focused on me, and never talked about how maybe things weren't going too well or how he was getting sick again. He did not focus on himself, but on others.

You, Dylan, and Jeffery are and always have been and will be in my thoughts, heart, and prayers.

I will be forever grateful for the love and support you extended to my dear brother, Dale.  You and the boys were the light of his life, and I am confident that your love helped him through these many years and when his illness was the most difficult.  Dale's positive outlook on life is one that I most admire and makes me smile when I think of him.  He never complained, yet chose to look at life on the good side. Dale was driven to persevere over so many adversities; it was the three of you that kept him going.

Dale was a big part of our lives in California, and when we moved to Colorado, Dale would stay connected through lengthy phone calls, often chatting with the kids (now adults). Dale was a fabulous big brother who would always take his time to give me patient kind advice--anything from home repair to dinner ideas to parenting. He helped me when Don passed away and has watched the ups and downs of my family's adventures. He celebrated, and he anguished. So many times near the end of a long phone conversation, I could hear him say amid his chuckle, "Wait until I tell Lisa!"  A conversation never passed without laughter. I know the time ahead will not be easy, please know that you and the boys are in our hearts and prayers.

Just last week I was telling someone about your wedding in Tahoe and how the weather was warm and sunny and the next day is snowed! And then to hear this news...it just broke my heart. Hugs to you. Dear Lisa, Jeffery,Dylan,
You have lost a husband, i have lost my first born son, it is hard to let go,Dale as a son has left me with many, many, memories to cherish, and i know that is the same for you. Hold fast to all the good times you both have had, you have Jeffery and Dylan and your family there with you to help you get through the days and weeks ahead. Dawn and i are so sorry that we live such a distance away.

Dear Lisa, Dylan and Family,
We are so very sorry.  Dale was our friend and loyal neighbor.  We will always treasure and admire him.  In thinking of earlier days, a special image of he and Dylan comes to mind.  They would stand in the front yard together waiting as the garbage truck made its way down the street.  Dylan, then a toddler would yelp with excitement at seeing the truck lift up the containers! A true Father-Son moment.
