Bernard “Benny” McGuinness was definitely a lover of life. He enjoyed every opportunity this world had to offer. Married for 12 years, nearly 13, to his love and Wife Nancy. They had 2 fur Babies Paris and Minnie. Bernard was blessed with 5 children Ann and Husband Durlabh, Shaun, Scott, Kelly, and Megan and one grandchild Caleb. He was an active Roman Catholic as well as 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed the many daily conversations with his 8 siblings Johnny and Wife Barbara, Willie and Wife Phoebe, James, Thommy and Wife Reme, Jane and Husband Max, Mary and Husband Nathan, Richard and Wife Melody, Terry and Husband Jose often reminiscing on old times, events, holidays, and politics. He had numerous Nieces and Nephews too. He was never without an opinion or a stance. He knew how he felt and was not one to hold it back. He made sure to tell you he loved you, because it was what was in his heart.
Bernard loved learning. Education was something he valued and always was in search of. He encouraged any and everyone to seek higher knowledge in everything they did. He knew a bit about everything and could converse on almost every subject. He held two Bachelor’s Degrees Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice and an Associate’s Degree. He valued the ability education offered to propel you further in life. With his education he enjoyed a small stent as a Mailman in the US Postal Service but an even extensive career doing what he loved in law enforcement. He served as a security guard, Air Force Medic and Military Police, Dixon Police Officer, State Police Officer, and California Highway Patrolman. Later he returned to the medical roots he had interest in and became a Medical Assistant assisting in an endoscopy service.
To his family and friends, “You could hear Benny laughing and he always had a twisted sense of humor.” He never knew a stranger. Making friends wherever he went. His company was always assured around food, another one of his many loves of life. As a Husband, Brother, Father, Uncle, in-law, or friend he will be missed. Bernard was preceded by his Mother Raymunda and Father John McGuinness as well as his Daughter Kelly M. McGuinness. It is in this that we can live in comfort knowing he is in the loving arms of family and with our Lord. In the words of Bernard,” Happy Trails, until we get in touch or meet again.”
