"It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Angelica Staley on February 3, 2021. Angie was born in San Francisco to parents Manuel R. Sánchez and Nohemí Márquez. She graduated from Polytechnic High School. She attended Bethel Christian Church, where she met her soon-to-be husband Stephen Staley. It was a match made in heaven. Steve and Angie were happily married for 40 years.
The Staleys moved to Fremont and then to Newark in the 70s to be closer to Steve's family and to be near her job as claims adjuster/underwriter for John Hancock Insurance. She shared her husband's love of animals as well as a deep interest in music (especially The Doors and The Rolling Stones). However, her favorites were the Motown girl groups like Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. It was around this time that Steve's young daughter came to live with them - another happy and loving journey for Angie. Over the years, Angie devoted much time and energy as a caregiver and life coach to scores of friends and family and developed a close bond with her grandsons.
Unless you knew Angie before her kidney disease took hold, you won't understand how full of spirit she was, or how strong and courageous she could be. Angie was the living example of Ephesians 4:32 ..."And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another. Just as God also forgave you in Christ."
She was preceded in death by her husband Steve and will be buried at his side.
She is survived by her sister Yvette; twin brother and sister Richard and Georgene; stepdaughter Desiree and grandsons Coleton and Braden.
A small memorial service will be held for Angie at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Milpitas on March 18 (her birthday).
A Celebration of Life for extended family and friends will be held at a later date.
