After a long and courageous battle with cancer, William "Billy" Michael McCoy, Jr., age 66, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 1, 2023, surrounded by family in his home, located in King George, Virginia. Despite everything he encountered over the last few years, he persevered and smiled until the end.
Born June 13, 1957, to William Michael McCoy, Sr. and Shirley Ann (Brasher) McCoy, in Washington, D.C., Billy grew up in a loving, Catholic home. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland College Park. From there, he owned and operated B&D Kitchens, Inc., in White Plains, Maryland, with his brother-in-law, Daniel Joseph Watts, for over 40 years.
Billy was a loving father, partner, brother, son, and friend. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed traveling with family and friends whenever he could. He was always full of life. You could count on him whenever you needed a helping hand, advice, or a good joke.
Billy was an avid lover of bowling, golf, basketball, and football - especially the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching them. Additionally, he loved war-time history, particularly the Civil War, coin collecting, and doing genealogy.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William Michael McCoy, Sr. and Shirley Ann McCoy. He is survived by his fiancé, Esther Karen Glotfelty; his three children: Meagan Victoria McCoy, William "Will" Michael McCoy III (Lauren), and Michaela Leigh (McCoy) Melching (John); three grandchildren: William "Liam" Michael McCoy IV, Addison Reign McCoy, and James Everett Griffin; three sisters: Laura Ann McCoy, Catherine "Katie" Cecile (McCoy) Watts (Daniel), and Erin Elizabeth McCoy; one brother, Ryan Patrick McCoy (Marissa); his step-mother, Susana “Susie” Marie (Yapur) McCoy; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be two viewings held at Mullins and Thompson Funeral home, located at 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 and from 12 PM to 1 PM on Thursday, November 9, 2023. The memorial service will be held at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church located at 1009 Stafford Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 1:30 PM. Graveside services will commence at 3:30 PM at Historyland Memorial Park, located at 11227 James Madison Pkwy, King George, VA 22485, where Billy will be laid in his final resting place.
